Work will require a traffic lane moving operation when painting fog lines and centerlines and temporary lane closures to paint symbol and pedestrian crossings.
Project Update: (Updated 4/13/2022)
April 13, 2022: The project was approved by the Scott County Board of Commissioner on April 5, 2022.
A total of 215 miles of county highways and a total of 26,500 square feet of symbols and pedestrian crossings will be repainted with latex paint and glass beads.
Purpose & Justification:
The County's practice is to annually restripe fog line and centerline pavement markings to the extent possible with the Highway Operations funding provided. All fog line and centerline markings are painted within two years. Factors such as traffic volume, crash history, horizontal/vertical alignment of the roadway, and the condition of the existing markings are considered when determining which roadways are painted each year. Also, specific roadway sections are omitted each year if they are to be painted as part of a seal coat, overlay or reconstruction project.
Marking and Striping Project Location Map:
County highways throughout Scott County will be restriped this summer. Work will be performed under traffic. Individual lanes will be temporarily coned off to traffic while symbol markings are placed. (see map here)
