Scott County offers many services that help families live to their full potential.

Adoption/Guardianship
Scott County provides adoption services for families, or individuals, wanting to adopt children who are currently in the foster care system. The goal of the Adoption/Guardianship Unit is to ensure that all Scott County children whose parents’ rights were terminated are placed in a permanent adoptive home in a timely manner.

Child Care Assistance
Child Care Assistance Program can help with child care costs for all children age 12 and younger, and for children ages 13 and 14 who have special needs.

Child Protection
Scott County Social Services is the public child welfare agency responsible for responding to community concerns about child safety, child well-being and family stability.

Child Support
Child Support services are offered through Minnesota counties. Either parent, with or without custody of their children, may receive these services.

Disability Services
Developmental Disabilities unit provides services to eligible children and adults with disabilities. Our mission is to assist persons with disabilities to find the unique and individualized supports needed to live self-determined lives within their chosen communities.

Foster Care
Children are placed in foster care when families are having problems and children cannot safely stay in the home.

Pregnancy and parenting programs include Follow Along Screening, Minor Parent assistance and Public Health home visiting

Together WE CAN
Together WE CAN (Work to End Child Abuse and Neglect) is a community-driven movement with the goal of ending child maltreatment within a generation. We envision a community where children are safe and thriving, and families remain intact.

Truancy
The Scott County Truancy Diversion Program is a youth centered community collaborative approach that involves Social Services, Community Corrections, County Attorney’s Office, Scott County Mental Health Center and Scott County Schools.
